Split Pillow Block Bearings
Split pillow block bearings have been around since the industrial revolution and were designed for improving application versatility and ease of maintenance; they are also commonly referred to as Plummer block bearings. These versatile assemblies can accept a range of shaft sizes at higher loads than other mounted bearing types. The SAF series is the most common series of split pillow block bearings, accommodating five bearing types, four sealing options, and two mounting methods. We also offer the SAW series split pillow block bearings which can accommodate higher load capacities. Additionally, we have the SDAF split pillow block bearings, typically found in high shock-load environments such as steel mills, mineral processing facilities, and more!
Our high-strength split pillow block bearings utilize several features to exemplify quality, durability and performance. First, our split housings are made from high-grade cast iron and reinforced with thin webs for heat transfer and ribs to prevent deformation from over-tightening. The SAF housings also feature two threaded plugs on top of the housings for grease fittings and various testing equipment, along with two drain plugs on opposite sides of the housing at the bottom faces. Most of these units are supplied with Labyrinth Seals (LER) and a stabilizing ring (please confirm with your customer service agent for specific sizes). The spherical roller bearings provide superior performance and are made to precision standards from high-quality steel material.
