A reducer backstop functions as a preventive component for rotation and overspeeding. It works by having an overrunning clutch as a brake while the freewheel allows rotation in one direction only. Gearbox backstops are continuously overrun during operation and prevent reverse rotation if the drive becomes disconnected. We supply backstops for gearboxes ranging from size 2 through size 10.
