Accumulator Chain
Accumulator chains are one of the relatively new chain types within the industry. These chains were introduced in the 1970s as a solution for conveying sensitive items that needed to be accumulated in a sensitive manner. Many manufacturers worldwide have since produced, retrofitted, and modified accumulator chains to support individual application needs. However, seven configurations have become the most sought-after and "standard" accumulator chain types (type A, B, C, D, E, F, G). Other suppliers designate them with different letters, but we will show you below how to interchange our part numbers with others! Applications-wise, an accumulator chain (also known as an accumulation roller chain) is used in anything from robotics, electrical, scientific components, food packaging, and more. The beneficial design controls products precisely while the chain continues to move linearly. Our tier-one accumulator chains come equipped with the latest chain innovations and technology, including precision heat treatment of components, special shot-peening, specific pre-stressing, and high-precision parts. Additionally, we offer accumulator chains featuring through-hardened pins, solid bushings, and quad-staked rivets. Our premium accumulator chains are engineered and manufactured to boast superb performance and durability. We supply seven different configurations of accumulator chains as a standard. However, we offer custom accumulator chain configurations with a supplied drawing or print.
Additionally, these configurations are available in BS metric chain sizes and ANSI from stainless or carbon materials with optional polymer rollers.
Type-A Accumulator chains are designed with an enlarged roller at every other pin (every 2nd pitch) and smaller rollers extending on both sides of the chain that encompass extended pins. These chains are considered single-strand (simplex) accumulator chains.

Type-B accumulator roller chains have enlarged rollers on every pin/ pitch, with smaller side rollers riding on extended pins on every pitch. This type of accumulator chain is also a simplex type chain.

Type-C accumulator chains have a unique design encompassing enlarged rollers, every other pin alternating between the double-strand (duplex) set of chains. The chain also features smaller rollers that extend on both sides of the chain riding on the extended pins. These chains are commonly referred to as duplex accumulator roller chains.

Type-D accumulator chains are triple-strand (triplex) chains designed with an enlarged roller on every other pin (2nd pitch) on the innermost section of the chain. This chain does not have "side rollers" that ride on extended pins.

Type-E accumulator chains are designed with an enlarged roller every third pin (3rd pitch); these chains are designed for large products that need to be accumulated and are triple strand (triplex) type chains.

Type-F accumulator roller chains have alternating enlarged rollers on both sides of the chain. It is considered a single-strand (simplex) accumulator chain.

Accumulator Chain Clips:
These unique clips prevent smaller articles from falling through your accumulator chain and prevent fingers or unwanted objects from getting caught up in the chain for improved safety. Accumulator chains can be supplied with these clips, or we can supply cli[s retro-fitting current chain applications.
Self-Lubricating/Maintenance-Free Accumulator Chain:
Self-lubricating accumulator chains utilize special pins and or bushings that are impregnated with oil that is released when needed throughout the life of the chain. This particularly comes in handy when transferring products that can be damaged or stained from grease or oil and when the accumulator chain is operating in difficult to accesses areas.
Accumulator chain Guide Plates:
Guide plates are available on various accumulator chains and in different configurations.
Accumulator Chain Guide:
Chain guides for accumulator chains are available in various options and designs. Guides are typically made from UHMW, which has excellent low-friction properties without the need for lubrication and is acceptable in food-grade applications. We also offer accumulator chain guides made from different polymers that can withstand high and low-temperature applications. The chart below shows some of the standard accumulator guides.
Accumulator Chain Sprockets:
We also supply a range of sprockets for accumulator chains. Please note that accumulator chain sprockets are custom-made to order, and lead times vary dependent on quantity and urgency. We do offer expedited lead times as short as three business days.
Side-Flexing Accumulator Chains:
Side flexing accumulating roller chains are designed in a special way that allows them to function while turning around a radius. Every style of accumulator chains are available as a side flexing option.
