Base roller chains for tabletop chains are manufactured with slightly extended pins on each side for the plastic top plate to attach to the chain securely. Our base chains are manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards for direct interchangeability and feature a solid roller design for improved working life and performance. Tabletop base roller chains are available in carbon and stainless steel material types; they can also be supplied as straight running or side flexing (SB) dependent on the applications specific requirements. Tabletop Base Chain Sizes

Note: the below sizes combine different part #s from various manufactures. Base chains are offered in 1/2" and 3/4" pitch, straight running or side flexing, and stainless steel or carbon steel.

Types Of Tabletop Base Chain

If your base chain does not have a part number or is not designated with one of the part #s in the above chart, there is a simple way of identifying your base chain. To do this, utilize the images and illustrations.
Pitch:

Identifying the proper pitch will designate if the chain runs on 40 or 60 type sprockets. This is done by measuring from one pin to the next, as shown above. A standard base chain will have a 1/2" or 3/4" pitch.
Configuration:

Next, you'll need to determine if the chain is straight running or side flexing. Straight running base chains will have minimal flex, while side flexing base chains can create a radius.
Material:

There are two standard types of material used with base chains; carbon steel and stainless steel. Stainless steel base chains are typically used in corrosive or food-grade applications, while carbon steel chains are used in higher load and non-corrosive applications. Inherently if your base chain is stainless it will be lighter in colour and shiny, you can also do a magnetism test on the chain if it is dusty or old. Stainless steel base chains have little to no magnetism to them while carbon will be very magnetic.
