Rack and Pinion Slide Gates
In industries moving bulk amounts of various materials controlling the flow of those materials is an essential aspect of the application. This is where our heavy-duty rack and pinion slide gates come in, besides being found at intermediate discharge points on screw conveyors, rack and pinion slide gates are also used below hoppers and as emergency shut off gates. The smooth and seamless operation of these gates is sure to control the flow of your materials with ease. Our gates utilize a proven rack with a gear pinion design with a convenient hand wheel for operating the opening and closing action of the gate. We supply the standard curved and flat designed gates as shown below or custom designs upon request. Rack and pinion gates are typically furnished from steel but other materials such as stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized can be supplied upon request.Curved Slide Rack and Pinion Gates

Rack and Pinion gates with curved slides have cut tooth racks that are welded to the slide plate. The rack engages with a pinion (gear) that is mounted on a shaft. We can also supply curved slide rack and pinion gates with roller chain wheels upon request. The design of curved slides conform with the contour of the trough and eliminate pockets that could possibly trap material in a spout. Additionally, these slides can be operated through the use of an electric motor, air, or hydraulic.

Flat Slide Rack and Pinion Gates

Rack and pinion gates with flat slides have cut tooth racks mounted to the slide plate that engages with a pinion (gear) that is mounted to a pinion shaft. Standard operation of the slide gate is by use of a handwheel, but chain wheels can also be supplied. Or it can be operated with the use of electric motos, air, or hydraulics. The benefit of a flat slide design is that it allows for operation in any one of the four positions as long as clearance is available for the operation.
