A side bow chain is a unique roller chain designed to curve around a radius. Our side bow roller chain is manufactured to conform with ANSI or ISO Standards dimensionally. These roller chains are typically found in conveyor applications, are available with attachments, and are supplied in materials such as standard carbon steel, stainless steel, or nickel-plated steel. Additionally, our side bow chain operates on standard roller chain sprockets and directly interchanges with other brands. We also stock side bow base chains for slat-top conveyor chains in sizes #43, #63, #63SS, and #863. Other standard terms for side bow chains include side flexing chains and curving roller chains. Standard Side-Bow Roller Chains
The four most common sizes of side bow roller chains include; 40SB, 50SB, 60SB, and 80SB. We supply these chains in lengths of 10ft, 50ft or 100ft. The below options are in our premium Premier Series line which means that each chain showcases solid bushings, solid rollers, exceptionally hardened pins, extremely precise shot peened and heat treated components. We do also provide lower grades of side flexing roller chains for economical applications.

What is Side Bow Roller Chain?
Side bow/ side-flexing roller chain is a chain that is manufactured with a slightly longer pin length than a standard chain. What this does is allows for a larger space between plates, thus producing a chain that can side-flex. There are two different styles of this chain.
The first and most common style (represented in the sketch above) is your typical ANSI 35 - 80 side bow chain and can run on standard roller chain sprockets.
The other style (represented in the sketch above) is used for table-top chains and is commonly known as a "base chain" (example in the photo below) this style will run on standard sprockets, but if it is being used as a base chain special sprockets with a flattened tooth profile will be required. Common sizes for this chain are 43, 63, and 863.
