All of our stainless steel shafts are manufactured to precision tolerances, this reduces unwanted additional vibration as well as reduces friction on idlers or bearings. 303-grade stainless steel is used because it is non-magnetic, austenitic stainless steel that is not hard-enable by heat treatment. It also exhibits improved machinability while maintaining good mechanical and corrosion resistance due to the presence of sulfur in the steel composition. However 303s corrosion resistance is slightly lower than 304-grade stainless steel.
