Cylindrical Roller Bearings

A cylindrical roller bearing is a bearing in which the rollers are barrel-like, whereby the longer axis is in contact with the raceway. A single-row cylindrical roller bearing can therefore be utilized in applications with high speeds and heavy radial loads when compared to other bearings, such as ball bearings. Increasing the number of rows to a double-row cylindrical roller bearing increases the bearing’s ability to take heavier radial loads along with some axial loads. A four-row cylindrical roller bearing with tapered bore can withstand the heaviest radial loads due to the number of rollers that are present. In all of these variants, low friction, due to the flange contact with the roller end, is maintained.

Sealed cylindrical roller bearings also increase the lifetime and operational reliability of the bearing as they block out dirt, dust, water and other contaminants while increasing lubrication retention. With a long service life, increased operational reliability, high friction and low stiffness, these bearings do well in gearboxes, turbines, pumps and compressors, and rail vehicles, to name just a few industrial applications.
