What is a BK55 pulley?
A BK55 pulley is a single-groove, cast-iron V-belt sheave made for B-section (and fractional-horsepower 5L) V-belts. The BK prefix indicates a light-duty B-groove sheave, and the number reflects its nominal outside diameter, so a BK55 runs at roughly a 5.5 inch outside diameter. Explore the full range of B-section V-belt pulleys for other diameters.
What size V-belt does a BK55 pulley use?
The BK55 is grooved for a single B-section V-belt, which also fits the 5L fractional-horsepower belt. It will not correctly seat an A/4L or C-section belt. Pair it with the right V-belts for smooth, slip-free power transmission.
What bore sizes does the BK55 pulley come in?
BK55 pulleys are stocked with several finished bore sizes, commonly 1/2 inch, 5/8 inch, 3/4 inch, 7/8 inch, and 1 inch, with a keyway and set screws. Choose the bore that matches your motor or driven shaft diameter, and confirm the keyway before ordering.
What is the difference between an AK and a BK pulley?
The letter denotes the belt groove. AK sheaves are grooved for A-section (and 4L) belts, while BK sheaves like the BK55 are grooved for wider B-section (and 5L) belts. If your drive uses A-section belts, see our A-section pulleys instead.
What is the difference between a BK55 and a 2BK55 pulley?
A BK55 has one groove for a single V-belt, while a 2BK55 has two grooves to run two belts side by side for higher load capacity. For single, double, and multi-groove options, browse our full V-belt pulleys and sheaves range.
How do I choose the right V-belt pulley size?
Select the sheave by belt section (A, B, or C), groove count, bore, and outside diameter, then use the driving and driven diameters to set your speed ratio. Our guide to V-belt pulley design basics walks through sizing, and confirm final dimensions against the product spec.
