More specifically, 316-grade stainless steel contains a significant amount of molybdenum (2% - 3%) versus in 304-stainless steel there are only trace amounts of this compound found. The result is a 316-grade 40 stainless steel roller chain that is capable of operating in applications containing specific chemicals and environments far longer than the 304SS chain. This chain is also the least-magnetic 40 stainless steel roller chain on the market!
