Our chrome pins have an average hardness of around 70 HRC (Rockwell C), while the standard hardness of a heat-treated and hardened carbon steel 100 chain pin is around 48 HRC. This drastic increase in the hardness of the pin increases the chain tensile strength, working load, and torque capacity. 100 chrome pin chain also has a lower coefficient of friction and self-lubrication properties, increasing the working life and overall performance of the chain.
