CARB Toroidal Roller Bearings
CARB toroidal roller bearings offer full interchangeability with any other self-aligning ball bearing, cylindrical roller bearing or spherical roller bearing that has the same boundary conditions, as toroidal roller bearings adhere to ISO 15:1998. CARB is an abbreviation for “compact aligning roller bearing,” and a CARB toroidal bearing takes the advantages of cylindrical roller bearings, needle roller bearings and spherical roller bearings and combines them into one bearing type. Toroidal bearings tolerate axial displacement, angular misalignment and high load capacity.
A CARB bearing has a convex profile, has one row of barrel-shaped symmetric rollers and is sandwiched between two raceways. This low-friction, high-load roller bearing is self-aligning and has a long service life, reducing the amount of maintenance required for its use. CARB bearings can be used in the metals, pulp and paper, mining, mineral processing and marine industries as well as within industrial transmissions. Due to the bearing's ability to withstand misalignment and displacement, it easily reduces noise and vibration.
