The welded steel WH124 chain is one of the most popular sizes of Engineer Class Chain in the market. This is widely due to its effectively productive offset link design, it's also commonly known as WH124 conveyor chain or WH124 welded steel mill chain. With an ultra-high tensile strength of 60,000 lbs at a low per foot weight of 8.3 lbs, this chain makes an excellent and efficient use in whichever application it is used in. What makes our WH124 chain different is the fully heat-treated pins, barrels, side-plates, and high-precision strengthened welds. We also use high-grade steel so the core of the components has great metallurgy. Common applications for WH124 welded steel chain include heavy-duty conveyors, forestry, grain handling, pulp, paper, and sugar processing. This chain is supplied as 10' coils (30 link strands) and is supplied with one heat-treated connecting pin per coil.
WH124 vs WR124 Chain
WR124 and WH-124 chain directly interchange with each other dimensionally and are both equally as popular. However, when taking a closer look there are differences. WR124 does not implement fully heat-treated components, thus it has a much quicker wear life and a lower tensile strength rating. Because of this we primarily recommend WH124 chain and supply it at no additional cost! WR124 strength: 50,400 LBS vs WH124 Strength: 60,000 LBS
Made in USA WH124 Chain
Something that really sets USA Roller Chain and Sprockets apart from other suppliers in the industry is our lineup of domestically manufactured chains. We supply a Made in USA WH124 chain for almost the same price as an import chain, the benefit of domestic welded steel chains boils down to the metallurgy and workmanship/ quality control. Domestic steel has better properties than import and US workers ensure the chain is up to quality standards and is ready for install. Though working loads and tensile strengths are the same with a domestic chain, the metallurgy that domestic materials support will provide an overall better working life in the long-run.
WH124 Chain Construction
Welded steel chains got their name from their construction. A welded steel chain is manufactured with a precision strengthened weld around the outside diameter of the barrel connecting the two sidebars together. Within the barrel, there is the pin which on a WH78 chain the pin is full 360° heat-treated for optimal wear life. Then housing it all are the heat-treated distinctive offset style sidebars.

Strongest WH124 Chain
When searching for WH124 chain one of the most common questions we've seen is "are there any chains that are stronger?" the answer is yes! We also stock WH124HD (heavy-duty WH124 chain) and WH124XHD (extra-heavy-duty WH124 chain) for the applications out there that require higher strengths than the standard. The below chart shows the differences between the types of WH124 chain.
