The floating roller chain tensioner design is extremely effective yet so simple. It features high quality UHMW and stainless steel parts for light weight and durable performance. They can be used in a broad range of applications such as agricultural, food processing, conveying, drive, and any other chain application that requires tensioning. This chain tensioner is quickly becoming more and more popular in the industry because it is free floating, dampens vibration, diminishes the need of expensive idler sprockets, reduces chain wear, no lubrication required, easy installation, and less maintenance. We can supply standard roller chain, heavy duty roller chain, metric roller chain, and engineer class floating chain tensioners directly from stock!
As you can see from the above video the Snapidle® floating roller chain tensioner has a lot of potential in almost any application! We personally have so much confidence in this product that when the consultant team at USA Roller Chain and Sprockets is assisting with new conveyor design and installation we always recommend this floating chain tensioner.
Roller Chain Tensioner Options
The single guide styletensioner is manufactured for applications that don't necessarily need the standard style chain tensioner or applications that require tension on a specific part of the chain. This style is available for most of the chain sizes in the above charts
The space saving tensioner is designed for tight tolerance applications or for places where the standard tensioner just won't fit. Because of their design, they are not available in heavy series, and won't work with most engineer class chains. If you need the space-saving tensioner please contact our customer service team before purchasing to make sure it will work with the chain you are using.
The mini chain tensioners are manufactured for small pitch roller chains and are typically more economical than the standard chain tensioners.
How to Use Floating Chain Tensioner
Remove items from the box and ensure that all hardware and components are there (2 blocks, 2 straps, washers, and nuts).
Assemble one half of the tensioner by attaching both straps to one of the blocks, using supplied nuts and washers.
Slide the assembly over your roller chain. The roller chain should sit inside the groove of the block.
Take the second block and slide it over the opposite side of the roller chain.
Adjust to the desired tension and insert the posts on the block into the closest hole(s) on the strap.
Attach using (1) nut and (1) washer on each post.
Ensure all nuts are tight but DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN.
Trim off excess straps, if desired.
Sit back and enjoy a perfectly-tensioned and more reliable chain drive!
Note: The number of posts on the blocks and the amount of hardware included depends on what size tensioner you ordered. For example, The SI-160 tensioner has (4) posts on each block and includes (8) washers and (8) nuts, while the SI-60 tensioner has (2) posts on each block and includes (4) washers and (4) nuts.
